Cheapest to run: the small ones

The Seagull and Dolphin sip the least electricity per kilometre, so they cost the least to charge day to day — and they happen to be the most affordable to buy, too. For a city commuter chasing the lowest monthly outlay, they're hard to beat.
Family and long-distance options
The Atto 3 is the popular compact-SUV middle ground: enough space and range for most families without a huge battery. Need three rows? The eMAX 7 and Tang carry seven, though the larger, heavier Tang naturally uses more energy per kilometre. Want performance and range in a sedan? The Seal and Han pack the biggest batteries.
